Care Resort Chiang Mai is the higher-care neighbour of Vivobene Village. Where Vivobene is the active-independent benchmark, Care Resort is where Chiang Mai families send a parent who needs specialist post-stroke recovery, Parkinson’s care, or dementia management.
The facility sits in Mae Rim, about 25 minutes north of Chiang Mai city, on a smaller campus than Vivobene with roughly 40 resident rooms. The smaller scale is deliberate – higher nursing-to-resident ratios, more individual attention, and the ability to handle conditions that would push a resident out of a typical independent-living village.
What it actually is
This is assisted-to-nursing-care with a memory-care speciality. Care Resort does not serve active independent retirees who want a campus to call home – the residents here all have meaningful daily care needs. Common stays:
- Post-acute rehabilitation after a stroke or major surgery. Residents arrive from a hospital, spend 3 to 12 months in structured rehab, and either go home, move to a lower-care setting, or stay long-term.
- Long-term Parkinson’s and degenerative-condition care, where mobility and medication management are the core challenge.
- Memory care for residents with Alzheimer’s or other dementia diagnoses, in a dedicated wing with structured daily routines and specialist staff.
The medical leadership has been in place for over a decade. Direct-billing relationships with Chiang Mai Ram and Bangkok Hospital Chiang Mai for any care that exceeds on-site capability.
Who it’s a good fit for
- Families whose parent has a serious clinical diagnosis and needs more than what a general retirement village can provide.
- Couples where one partner has acute care needs and the other wants to stay close – Care Resort accepts spouses on a continuing-care basis.
- Adult children researching dementia care options in Thailand – Chiang Mai’s dedicated memory-care inventory is concentrated here and at a few private hospital wings.
Not a good fit for the active independent retiree – for that audience, Vivobene Village or Dok Kaew Gardens are the right starting points.
