My Koh Yao Noi Travel Guide
Koh Yao Noi is a small island in the middle of Phang Nga Bay, between Phuket and Krabi, and it’s the most under-the-radar Andaman option in this corner of Thailand. The community is traditional Muslim and the development has stayed low-key as a result – no Walking Streets, no party scene, almost no day-tripper traffic. The Six Senses property here is the headline draw and one of the best Asian resorts in the Six Senses portfolio.
We’ve done Yao Noi twice as the second-beach finale on longer Andaman trips. Both times it was the favorite stop. Boat to the smaller surrounding islands, kayak through the karsts, eat at small family restaurants, sleep early. If you want a honeymoon island in Thailand, this is the one.

Frequently asked questions
Why Koh Yao Noi instead of Phuket or Krabi?
Quiet. Yao Noi has a fraction of the visitors that either of its bigger neighbors does, and the traditional Muslim fishing community keeps the development quiet. Six Senses Yao Noi is the headline property, but there are smaller boutique options too.
How do I get to Koh Yao Noi?
Speedboat from Phuket (Ao Por pier, 30 minutes) or Krabi (Ao Thalane, 45 minutes). The Six Senses runs its own boat. Plan around the morning and afternoon schedule – there are no late departures.
When should I go?
November to April is the prime season – calm seas, dry, perfect. May to October has rain and rougher seas; the island is quieter but the boat schedules can shift.
