Cheewasuk Rehabilitation Center

Cheewasuk Rehabilitation Center near Chiang Mai

John has not personally visited this community. The information below is sourced from public materials, provider websites, and conversations with residents and consultants. The directory grows in depth as John visits in person.

Cheewasuk Rehabilitation Center is not a retirement village in the Vivobene or Dok Kaew sense – it’s a dedicated rehab facility that also accepts long-stay assisted-living residents. The distinction matters when you’re shortlisting.

Located in Hang Dong, just south of Chiang Mai, it’s the closer-to-city option compared with the Mae Rim cluster (Care Resort, Dok Kaew, Vivobene). For families visiting frequently, that 15-minute proximity to central Chiang Mai is meaningful.

What it actually is

The core service is inpatient rehabilitation – post-stroke, post-orthopedic-surgery, post-acute neurological. The physiotherapy and occupational therapy programmes are the deepest in northern Thailand by some margin, and the facility is the standard referral target from the major Chiang Mai private hospitals when a patient needs structured rehab they can’t get at home.

Alongside the rehab programme, Cheewasuk offers long-stay assisted living for residents who’ve completed rehab but need ongoing daily care. That’s the secondary product – fewer than half of beds, but a meaningful option for families who started with rehab and stayed.

Who it’s a good fit for

Not a good fit for the active independent retiree – there’s no campus social life, the building is clinical-feeling, and most residents are there for medical recovery rather than retirement.
